7:35pm... I receive a call from my stranded sister that her car had broke down on their way back home to Florida. With her she has her husband, her daughter, AND her 4 week old grandson. They need somewhere to stay. It is November in Kansas City. It is cold. I immediately search for a place for them to stay close to where they are broken down, and saw this place was a mere 2 mins from where they are! Perfect! I go on to Priceline, book the room, forward the confirmation info to my sister, and relax thinking they are taken care of. Apparently in my haste of making sure my family had somewhere warm to stay, I didn’t check that it was 3 people and not 2. I admit, my fault. My sister goes the front desk eager to check in as they are exhausted and cold, and find out the reservation is for 2. My brother in law says he will stay in the car and my sister and niece and 4 week old baby can have the room. This was not good enough for the gentleman at the front desk, he refuses to give my sister the room, that I have already paid in full for. He says there is a required deposit in order for them to get the room. Blah blah blah. My sister is mortified, and texts me. I call the front desk myself, I inquire about the issue, I am told a deposit is required for “people like them”. Excuse me? People like who? The room is paid for. My brother in law will sleep in the car. What is the problem here? The gentleman on the phone proceeds to tell me that he does not care about me or my sister and hangs up the phone. No room. No refund. Shame on you. Shame on you as a business. Shame on you as a person. My family slept in their car last night because of you and your shady practice.
