Transcraft Trailers History

In 1962 Transcraft was founded in Anna, IL, by entrepreneur William Cunningham who started out by building trailers for private label manufactures. By 1968 he began marketing the first durable, heavy-duty flatbed trailer under the Transcraft trademark.

By 1999 the company had experienced significant growth and boasted greater that 20% market share amongst flatbeds sold in America. That year, Cunningham sold Transcraft to Lincolnshire Management, Inc., a New York-based investment group that further increased market penetration by capitalizing on dealer expansion initiatives. In 2006 Wabash National, the nation’s leading semi-trailer manufacturer, purchased Transcraft and continued investing in the company through product enhancements and, in 2008, the acquisition of certain assets of Benson International, a leading manufacturer of aluminum flats, drop decks and dumps.

 saw the consolidation of Transcraft operations to its present location in Cadiz, Kentucky, where a the company invested over $3 million to create its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, including a dedicated, 12,000 square foot painting facility for platform trailers, the industry’s most sophisticated.
