Akiki Towing

AAA sent Akiki to pick up my car, which was having coolant issues. The driver, Emmanuel, was proficient and very friendly. He was fast but thorough in both getting my car onto the truck bed and taking it down. If you have a choice in tow companies, I would recommend Akiki, and hopefully Emmanuel is your driver!

Called for a tow. Had been told it was an alternator and needed service. Bruce C arrived, figured out it was a bad key fob battery, got it started, followed me to CVS, replaced the key fob batteries, and now all set. Above and beyond service!!

Around 630am, I called AAA to get my dead car towed from my driveway to my mechanic about 5 miles away. AKIKI came and towed my car away around 7am. Called my mechanic later that same day around 3pm to get an update. Come to find out, my car was never towed to my mechanic. I went into my AAA digital portal & instantly looked at my AAA tow request form and the address I entered was definitely my mechanic. I then called AKIKI to find out where they towed my car. Not only did AKIKI NOT tow my car to my mechanic, they claimed they had absolutely no record of ever towing my car at all. I definitely started to get scared. What do you mean you don’t have any record of towing my car? Huh? They put me on hold a couple times and said they couldn’t find the tow slip so they couldn’t tell me where my car was towed to. Once I said I was going to call the police, they put me on hold a 3rd time and miraculously found my tow slip and finally admitted they towed my car to a completely different auto repair shop at a completely different address from the one I entered on the AAA tow request form. We drove my husband’s car to this other shop, and my car wasn’t there either. Now I’m really starting to panic. We didn’t know what to do, so we just started driving around that neighborhood hoping to find it somewhere nearby. I said we’ll do a couple laps around the area and if we can’t find it, after a couple laps, we’ll call the police and have my car reported stolen. Sure enough, after about 5 minutes of looking, and using the panic button on my extra faub, we found my car parked behind a warehouse, tucked between a dumpster and a chain link fence 2 blocks away from my mechanic. I called AKIKI and asked if they could please tow my car to the original address on the original tow request form. They said no. No tow trucks were available and hung up on me. I left my husband with the car and walked the 2 blocks back to my mechanic. I kept it together, but I have NEVER been so furious in my lifetime. The end of the story is that my mechanic towed it, fixed it and I was back in my car the next day.

My car broke down off 95. Donyell responded and helped diffuse a stressful event. He even let my daughters wait in the warm truck cab while we waited for a ride. Very satisfied with service.

A flat tire on route 93 during rush hour is a commuter’s worst nightmare. While I do not wish this situation on anyone, if it does happen, ask from Thomas P. from Akiki and Sons Inc. He was by far the kindest, most patient, most accommodating tow truck driver during my less than ideal situation this evening. He gave sage advice on quick tire service (thank you Costco) and went the extra mile to get me there safely and quickly. Thank you, Thomas!
