Carrier	Carrier	A person engaged in the transportation of passengers or property by land or water, as a common, contract, or private carrier, or civil aircraft.
Collect	Collect	An indication on a Bill Of Lading to instruct the carrier to bill the consignee for shipping charges. Charges collected at designation are called destination or collect freight bills.
Consignee	Consignee	The person or organization to whom freight is shipped.
CWT	Per Hundred Weight	Per each unit of weight measurement equal to exactly 100 pounds.
Cargo	Cargo	The lading of a vehicle.
Cartage	Cartage	Freight hauling between locations in the same city, town, suburb, or local area.
Classification	Classification (or Class or Rating)	The class to which an article is assigned for the purpose of applying transportation charges.
Commodity	Commodity	Any article of freight. Goods shipped.
CCMTA	Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators	Coordinates all matters dealing with the administration, regulation and control of motor vehicle transportation and highway safety within Canada. Membership includes representation from provincial and territorial governments as well as the federal government of Canada
CDL	Commercial Driver's License	A driver’s license required to operate large or heavy vehicles. The CDL can come with a range of class types and/or endorsements which identify the size or type of vehicle that the driver is qualified to operate
CDLIS	Commercial Driver License Information System
CLP	Commercial Driver Learner's Permit	Used to practice driving for an eventual commercial driver’s license
CNG	Compressed Natural Gas	Methane stored at high pressure which can be used in place of gasoline, diesel fuel and propane/LPG.
CRA	Canada Revenue Agency	Administers tax laws for the government of Canada and for most provinces and territories, and administers various social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system.
CVIEW	Commercial Vehicle Information Exchange Window
CVISN	Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks
CVR	Computerized Vehicle Registration	Process allowing a registrant to self-process registration and title transactions using a third party system that interfaces with a jurisdiction’s transaction processing system.
CVSA	Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance	A non-profit association comprised of local, state, provincial, territorial and federal commercial motor vehicle safety officials and industry representatives. The CVSA’s goal is to achieve uniformity, compatibility and reciprocity of commercial motor vehicle inspections and enforcement
