Horrible that when trying to find refuge from the WY winds(warnings) as a trucker that this “rest area” is always closed, 1/17/21, and no where else to shutdown without threat of getting booted(chug n go across the street👎🏼) or sitting duck somewhere on the highway? 🤦🏻‍♀️state of WY, you can do better than this 😕

Currently closed but looked nice. We would have appreciated being notified of the closure while still on the interstate. Instead, the closure signage is on the exit ramp.

Snake Pit Left for Chugwater Rest Area
It's ok if you need a place to shut your eyes for a spell. Inside is a typical rest area bathroom situation. Grateful to have a stop in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. ;)

Great rest stop. Bathrooms are clean, grass is green, no trash anywhere. There is a pump with fresh, cold water. I didn't even have to let it run, it was perfectly clean right away. There is room to walk, a pet run, picnic shelters, and a path leading to a beautiful view over the land. The pictures you see here don't do it justice, I'll add some of my own. Great change of name and pace on a long trip. Whoever is maintaining this area deserves a raise.
