On March 18th, 2022 2 of my young female friends and I were on a long trip alone travelling in a car. While stuck in traffic one of the drivers from this company started making suggestive faces and gestures at us while purposely stopping and pulling up next to us. We tried to ignore it but after a few minutes of this I decided to defend myself by sticking up the middle finger at him. We did nothing else besides that one action (which I wouldn’t exactly consider particularly combative as we were young girls in a car while he was an older man in an 18-wheeler). He then proceeded to (in his large 18-wheeler) scream profanities at us, hang out the window, continuously pull up next to us while blowing on his horn, swerve into our lane etc. This continued for about 10 minutes until we were finally able to escape from him out of traffic. When I originally called the lady on the phone was shocked to hear this story (even after I did tell her we had stuck our middle finger up at the driver). I then called back a few days later and was met with what I’m assuming was the boss and he told me that because we stuck our middle finger up at the driver, the driver’s behavior was excused. I do not recommend a company that excuses predatory behavior like this. Young women should be able to defend themselves by flipping someone off when they feel creeped out by suggestive faces and gestures.To tell young women (imagine you had a daughter) that they must sit and accept an older man acting predatory to them is inexcusable and especially unprofessional. Im not saying they had to fire him, but for the boss to completely excuse his actions is despicable. This company is extremely lucky we as young girls have been conditioned to subdue our response when we feel unsafe, because had I known the illegality of harassment and road rage I would and should have called the police.
