Best Budget Inn

Such a great little motel on historic Route 66. Very clean room. Host is very sweet and helpful. Highly recommend for those seeking unique place to stay.

Motel is very clean. The owners are personable and pleasant. I like parking in front of my room. It's quiet. During nice weather it's fun to be outside and go walk around the lake.

We love going here and will be back when we can. Love going to Kellogg Lake also!

I was looking for a last minute room in Carthage and came across the Best Budget Inn on a travel website. For lodging, I normally stay in bigger chain hotels, but Carthage didn't have any (nor did I really care to stay in one while driving Route 66). When looking online, the reviews here seemed really decent and the price was exceptional. So I rolled the dice and went for it. I couldn't have been happier. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the location was perfect. They had a nice pool out back that was awesome to take a dip in after a long day of driving on Route 66. The motel overlooks a park with a lake and they had some tables on the side of the property that were great to eat dinner and enjoy a drink at. Finally, I had several interactions with the owners and they were as friendly as could be. As I was departing, one of the owners told me to check out Red Oak before I left town. What a great recommendation as that might have been one of the top 5 things I saw on Route 66 for my whole trip. I'd highly recommend staying here if you are in Carthage.

Greeted at check in with info on local places to eat as well as some history of carthage. Comfy bed and cozy room with an old time route 66 feel. Watch your head getting in the shower if you are tall. (My wife gives a bonus star because... finally a shower for her!)

We spent many nights in motels around the US. This is the best! Great room, and breakfast and superb staff.

Very nice spot in town, absolutely friendly and helpful staff with lots of travel tips. The hotel was clean and comfortable for a nice sleep. I'll definetly stay here again when on route 66 next!. Nice price too!

Looking for a nice affordable place to stay for the night while passing through the state. Price was great.. About $50. I always check reviews before staying somewhere and im glad I found this place with great reviews. The woman at the front desk was extremely nice and personable. The room was great, comfy bed, nice flat screen TV, very clean and smelled great... Just make sure the check that the windows are all locked before you go to sleep. My bathroom window wouldn't lock but I was able to fix it after about 5 minutes of messing with it. This is a great place. Totally recommend it.

Overall, good. Room was overall clean, though there was some dog hair still on the bed sheets. Bed was very comfortable, but we only had two thin pillows for a Queen, a couple more would of gone a long way! Room looks outdated, but gets the job done. Staff are super friendly and the outside of the property is impeccably maintained. Super serene next to a local park! Biggest issue was with the bathroom. It was very small, the shower spout is very low on the wall. The water pressure was weak and the temperature did not stay consistent while showering (would go from good, to super hot, to good, to ice cold, back to super hot). Breakfast looked good, but we woke up late and had to go. Overall, would recommend for a short stay!
