Gaviota Southbound Rest Area
Great little rest stop right off of the highway. Bathrooms are fairly well-maintained. There is a nice area for your pets to exercise and relieve themselves. Complementary pet waste bags are provided. Payphones just in case you still live in the night teen 90s or 2000s and don’t have a cell phone. Nice set of picnic benches and drinking fountains all around. Overall well-maintained.

Super small and there is literally not any shade at all... So if you fall asleep in ur car expect to wake up in an oven

Recently reopened. Usually clean. Watch out for snakes in the area. Don't wander off. There are warning signs. Southbound it's a ways until the next restrooms so you should avail yourself of the facilities.

The Gaviota Rest Stops on Hwy. 101 are located south of the tunnel. Both of the are very attractive and very well maintained. Informative panels speak on the natural history of the hills and flora. The Sycamores and the Oaks provide ample shade.

Stayed the night in the RV, so I can't vouch for the restrooms. Outside was lovely, trash cans outside were empty, appears to be well maintained. View was nice behind it. Smaller rest area. Probably room for 6 trucks and 12-15 cars.

Scenic place to make a restroom stop and look at the surrounding geological wonders. The snake warning signs bring excitement.

Nice scenery. Really nice view of the canyon and mountains. Not far from the ocean. Clean restrooms, picnic benches and grassy areas and information plaques make this a real nice rest stop on your way South 101.
